Bismillah..

assalamualaikum and hello.

It was estimated that were over 1 billion of world population used social media. It wasn't a surprise as this medium were considered as the fastest way to connect to each other and as an alternative news source. Some used these medium as a way for them to relay their thoughts and feeling. Some like to comment on every issues. Others like to share everything without the need to delve a little deeper about it.

I have no problem with those who love to comment. I'm one of them too. The problem is with the one who like to judge without a rational analysis. There wasn't really a right or wrong opinions. All opinions are accepted. There should be a limit when giving opinions, just for you to have at least some respects to those who were involved or those who were pointing out the issues. What I saw was, some of us are too loud in giving opinions until there were no room for the victims or other people to voice out their thoughts too.

When in an indirect conversations, that is by using a medium to convey the message, often the information were misinterpreted. That is possible as other might read it in a different way or tone. Due to all the problems I had explained before, I have listed out a few tips on how to be a good commentator or criticizer.

1. Think.Read all the comments (if there were hundreds of it, read at least 1/4 of the comment)By reading all the comments, you might get understand the situation a little bit. Think rationally whether you wanted to agree, disagree or be neutral .Analyse the whole situation. If the post was stating a problem, give solution instead of blaming who should be responsible for it.Never involved in an endlessly argument. You are just wasting your time.

2. Use appropriate languageDo not use harsh words. Avoid using short form words and not commonly used abbreviation. Short form words usually will lose its vowel, for example "msk". It can be defined as "masak" or "masuk". Quite confusing, isn't it? Another example, "x", means no. @ for at. Another thing is to use correct spelling for the word. For example, some users wrote sibuk as cibuk (wiping off your butt). By using appropriate language and correct sentence structure, it shows your level of thinking and your message will be easier to understand. Last but not least, choose language that is understandable by all. eg. Don't used Tagalog when commenting on a group where majority are Malay.

3. Edit. This is the most crucial step. Read two or three times before posting. Yes you can always delete if you're wrong. But remember that someone might read it or might take a screenshot. Another thing to consider, ask this question "If I post this, would it only make things worse?". If the answer is yes, then avoid it. If your comments seems harsh, rephrased it.In addition, you could use pictures or videos to strengthen your point.

so, that is my three basic rules when responding to a post based on my 5 years observations as one of the active users of social media.(BAHAHAHAHA.....poyo sangat) To summarize, I came up with a simple formula.
